TISCO Leads High Speed Rail Steel Localization

TISCO signed with SMS a technical improvement project for high speed rail steel production, a measure to solidify TISCO’s No.1 position in Chinese railroad steel market, and to reflect TISCO’s power and resolution for independent innovation, better grade & better quality, stressed R&D and a boost to crucial steel domestication.
As a key project of 12th Five-Year-Plan, after the completion of technical improvement of high speed rail steel production, according to an insider, TISCO will expand it special steel production of carbon line for downstream product mix of profile steel, steel bar, steel wire, and steel tube, and develop equipment and technical conditions for continuous casting process routine of EU standard axle steel, and consequently to enhance TISCO’s competitive force in the field of special steel.
Ministry of Science and Technology had announced before that TISCO made great progress in stainless steel car plate research and passed reception on Jul 14, 2012. In the wake of that, 2 professional and demonstrative production lines will be built in TISCO with annual output of 10 kt, to overthrow the overseas monopoly in the car plate sector and realize localization in China. Confidence and resolution of TISCO to enter the high speed rail market could all be seen from its proactive actions.
In recent years, TISCO attached great importance to the R & D of railroad steel technology, which has a close connection with the national economy and the people’s livelihood, and achieved notable achievements, e.g. widely applied fine and effective stainless steel plate for freight car making developed by TISCO in Daqin railroad and extensively applied passenger car plate steel for subway car making in Beijing. Signified by application of Stainless steel plate as passenger car front plate in No.4 line, full domestication has been realized in the industry of urban rail car making. In this regard, TISCO possesses 90% of the axle steel market share at home. Of over 60 kinds in 5 steel grades of axle steel supplied by TISCO, both their category and technological element are at the leading standard of China.
It was TISCO’s innovation care and timely strategic transition that borne out TISCO’s outstanding position in the railroad steel market. Aiming for the key national projects, emerging industries and the demand of high end customers, TISCO will march ahead on its way of independent innovation and crucial steel nationalization towards the spectrum of highly efficient energy saving products covering cold rolled silicon steel, high strength and high toughness steel, etc.
