The hot commissioning of the skateboard type slag blocking system finished for No.1 stainless steel converter in No. 2 Steelmaking Plant of TISCO. This slag blocking system has successfully replaced the conventional slag stopping ball, which not only stops the slag in the converter, but also has great economic benefits.
The slag stopping ball was always used in the converters in No. 2 Steelmaking Plant; its performance is not good. Although many measures were taken, the carry-over slag can not be reduced, slag skimming amount is large, and the liquid steel cleanness can not be improved. No.2 Steelmaking Plant has been nagged by this technical problem for a long time. In order to solve this problem, they visited other steel producers, gathered market information, and found the advanced skateboard type slag blocking system. With this new system, the tapping with less carry-over slag or without slag can be realized; the rephosphorization of the liquid steel and the amount of carry-over slag is reduced.
This new system is only used by a few steel producers in China, and only used in carbon steelmaking converters. TISCO is the first producer to use this system in the stainless steel making converter.
