TISCO won 2012 Global Compact Best Practice

On 28 November, 2012 Global Compact Network China Conference, with the theme of “Leadership and Practice: Sustainable Development of Chinese Enterprises in New Condition” was held in Beijing. TISCO won 2012 Global Compact Best Practices for its Green Development Manual.
 
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon sent speech to the annual conference, UN Global Compact Organization Director-General George Cole, President of CEF Wang Zhongyu, Deputy Director of SASAC Shao Ning and Secretary-General of Global Compact China Network Huang Wensheng attended the conference. There were about 300 attendees at the conference, including senior leadership of Chinese and foreign enterprises, representatives of relevant industrial associations, research institutions, some UN agencies and foreign embassies in China.
 
On June 5, 2012, the World Environment Day, TISCO released Green Development Manual. It elaborates, from the aspects of concept, green product, ESER, circular economy and urban integration, TISCO green development path, main content and achievement, with easy-to-understand language and pictures. It shows that modern TISCO full of scientific spirit and vitality has played a positive role in spreading of green development concept and promotion of its results.
 
UN Global compact is a framework for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with 10 universally accepted principles in the social and environmental areas. In 2012, Global Compact China Network Organization, insisting on both GC spirit and characteristics of Chinese businesses, both social influence and social promotion, selected 30 cases out of over 20 enterprises as 2012 Global Compact China Best Practice. It shows that Chinese GC members have played a leading and exemplary role in sustainable, civilized and environment-friendly development.
 

UN Global Compact Organization was established in July 2000. It has over ten thousand enterprises and other relevant members from more than 130 countries, including 276 Chinese members from over 240 enterprises. TISCO joined UN Global Compact Organization in May 2012.
