Li Xiaobo Spoke at Annual Meeting of CECRPA in Zhuhai

The second annual meeting of China Ecological Civilization Research and Promotion Association was held on December 1 and 2, 2012. Chief adviser of CECRPA Jiang Chunyun sent speech, adviser of CECRPA and minister of MEP Zhou Shengxian made keynote speech. TISCO chairman Li Xiaobo is invited to the meeting and made presentation.
The theme of the meeting is ecological civilization and practice, it aims to understand and implementation of the spirit of eighteenth party congress, to explore new measures for promotion of ecological civilization construction. There are four separate sessions: ecological civilization and innovation, ecological civilization and promotion, ecological civilization and tourism, and ecological civilization and corporate duty, at which Li Xiaobo made a speech entitled Green Steel Plant and Ecological Civilization. The attendees are highly interested in sharing the experiences.
Li Xiaobo said that the eighteenth Party Congress stressed the ecological civilization construction to an unprecedented importance by integrating it into the course of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It is a scientific decision to conform to the trend of social development and people’s expectation. Industrial enterprises are highly responsible for ecological civilization, steel works, in particular, are the main force.
Li Xiaobo talked to the attendees about green steel plant construction in TISCO, focusing on:
Green development is the duty as well as competitiveness
Green development is action oriented
Green development should be based on higher goals
He said that adaptation to ECER requirement, or not, will verify the future of a steel plant. Steel companies must take active adaptation to ecological civilization and make green as the mass-tone of its development. TISCO integrates ECER and recycling into its development strategy, operation flow and management. Green development is essential for steel company’s new competitiveness and profit growth. Technology and management innovation are supportive to clean production and green product. Green business will promote the enterprise into social circulation. After elimination of high energy consumption and high pollution, a resource-conserving and environment friendly steel work will be in the leading position of world stainless steel industry.
Talking about next stage of development, Li Xiaobo said that TISCO will invest in additional ESER and recycling projects during twelfth Five Year Plan period on the basis of ecological civilization construction and beautiful China proposed at 18th Party Congress, to set up a complete recycling circle for all types of wastes to further expand green business and stimulate the relevant sectors for higher level of green development, to become a model of world green steel works, making greater contribution to the realization of sustainable development in China.
More than 400 people, from CECRPA, EPA, Guangdong provincial and Zhuhai municipal administration, institution and mass media, attended the annual meeting.
