The Construction of the World’s Most Advanced Stainless Steel Cold Tandem Rolling Mill Production Line Finished in TISCO

On May 28, the first cold rolled coil was successfully rolled off the stainless steel cold tandem rolling mill production line in TISCO, which indicated that the construction of the world’s most advanced stainless steel cold tandem rolling mill production line in TISCO was finished and went into hot commissioning, TISCO had undergone a new leap forward on stainless steel cold rolling technology and process, efficiency, quality and low cost
 
In order to fit in with the national economic restructuring and upgrading and meet the urgent demands for the new stainless steel materials by the key industries, TISCO, under the premise of without any increase in production capacity, implemented the stainless steel cold tandem rolling mill production line project based on the substitution for the imported, the promotion of the upgrading and updating of stainless steel product structure and the extension of the stainless steel industrial chain and value chain. The construction of the project started on Jan. 2013.
 
The stainless steel cold tandem rolling mill production line project of TISCO achieved a series of breakthroughs and innovations in stainless steel cold rolling technology and equipment. The production line integrated a lot of new technologies, such as the world’s most advanced tandem cold rolling mill, ultra-long continuous annealing section and ultra-long pickling section control, on-line integrated skin-pass mill and tension leveler, modern AC variable  frequency drives and computer automatic control mathematics models. TISCO also built a series of environmental protection facilities, such as acid regeneration, acid purification, waste water treatment, nitrogen oxides emission reduction, oily sewage treatment and waste oil recycling, sodium sulphate recycling and waste heat utilization etc.. The production line adopts the most advanced laser welding machine, the first 5-stand stainless steel tandem cold rolling mill, the largest continuous annealing and pickling system in the world, skin-pass mill, tension leveler, online rotary shear and can directly produce the finished coils, it is the world first stainless steel cold tandem rolling mill production line with the highest level and most complete of process integration and the optimal energy-conservation and the environmental protection effects, it will greatly improve the production efficiency, product quality and market competitiveness of the stainless steel in TISCO. The new production line can produce the high-end stainless steel materials needed by railroad, automobile, petrochemical, nuclear power, engineering machinery, home appliance, elevator, medicine and health, food processing and coinage industries, its products can fully substitute for the imported ones and meet the requirements of the national economic development.
 
The stainless steel cold tandem rolling mill production line project of TISCO is a key project of Shanxi Provincial Twelfth Five-year Plan. The Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and the Shanxi Provincial government paid much attention to the project, Secretary of Shanxi provincial Party Committee, Yuan Chunqing, and Governor of Shanxi Provincial Government, Li Xiaopeng, made site investigations and guidance many times, the leaders of Shanxi Provincial Government and Taiyuan Government provided great support to the project and coordinated and solved the difficulties and problems TISCO met during the construction of the project. TISCO set the overall objective of the construction of “building the project into a high quality one” during the construction of the project, adhered to the high standards in the organization and management of the project, the process integration innovation, the equipment selection and bidding, the equipment installation and commissioning. During the construction of the project, all the project builders worked together day and night and achieved the target of safety, quality, optimal project time schedule and cost. The localization rate of the production line equipment is more than 90%.
