Recently, TISCO received the M-650 certificate for duplex stainless steel approved by NORSOK M-650. After the British CARES certification for duplex stainless steel rebar, this certificate became the second progress and was of great significance for TISCO to speed up the development of international duplex stainless steel market.

 

With a reputation of rigorous requirement, NORSOK M-650 is widely accepted by the special steel product manufactures all around the world. M650 was set as a special standard by the oil and gas industry of European North Sea to test the duplex steel, super austenitic stainless steel, nickel-based alloy castings, and etc. At present, this standard is accepted by world-wide famous companies such as Statoil ASA, CONOCOPHILLIPS, Exxon Mobil Corporation, BP Amoco, Shell, Aker-Kvaerner, and etc. This certificate proves that TISCO has reached a higher level in special steel production and product quality control. It will give TISCO a strong support to develop the international duplex stainless steel market in high-tech fields such as oceaneering, sea water desalination, oil and gas exploitation.

 

In the stainless steel family, duplex stainless steel is on an unique position because of its perfect combination of high strength and high corrosion-resistance. TISCO started the research on duplex stainless steel in 1980s, put the product into a successful use in the Three Gorges Project and sped up the research & development in the past years. As early as 2012, TISCO passed the British CARES (professional certification authority in reinforced concrete products) certification for duplex stainless steel rebar, being the only one qualified enterprise that could produce the duplex stainless steel rebar according to British standards. The new type of duplex stainless steel rebar developed by the company was successfully applied to Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Qingshan Bridge across the Yangtze River in Wuhan city. It was the first time that a Chinese producer has developed, produced and put into application such an unique material.
