TISCO leads the project on “high strength & high corrosion-resistant stainless steel and its application”

The “high strength & high corrosion-resistant stainless steel and its application” project which is joint applied and participated by many units among whom TISCO is the leader, is listed as one of the national key R&D scheme for upgrade and industrialization of key basic material technologies .
 
After years of development, China has become a giant producer and consumer of stainless steel. However, China’s high-end stainless steel products accounts for merely less than 6% of the total, obviously poorer performances compared with overseas products in quality stability, steel grade serialization, key technology, cost, service life and application fields.
 
In the project, high quality duplex stainless steel used in special industries like the dangerous goods transportation and handling, super-austenitic stainless steel used in the environment-friendly fields, high strength stainless steel, heat-resist stainless steel used in the turbine rotors, super-martensitic stainless steel used in the oil gas exploitation and antibacterial stainless steel are selected as research objects. The basic study, application study, and manufacturing technology research will be carried out on the materials to greatly improve the quality stability till the steel quality reaches the international level and the high strength & high corrosion resist stainless steel can be produced stably in the whole process flow and widely used.
 
Led by TISCO, 14 leading enterprises / universities / scientific research institutes in China’s steel industry such as Central Iron And Steel Research Institute, Beijing University of Science and Technology , Northeastern University , Chinese Academy of Sciences Metal , Special Steel of Baosteel , China First Heavy Industries , Zhejiang JIULI Hi-Tech Metals Co., Ltd, and etc. join in this project. With 4 national engineering centers, 5 national key labs and a world-class pilot plant with whole set of facilities, the project team is well-equipped in scientific research. The leadership team, consultant team, technical team, financial team and intellectual property team are set up to make sure that the project could be operated with high efficiency and in a good order.
 
With the project target achieved, the structural adjustment of China’s special stainless steel and the whole stainless steel industry will be greatly promoted in technical improvement, quality control and product application. Energy conservation & emissions reduction, super low emissions in China’s machinery manufacturing industry and people’s living environment will also be improved greatly. This project will contribute considerable economic, environmental and social benefits. It is significant to the implementation of the innovation driven development strategy, the speeding up of the quality and efficiency improvement, as well as the transformation and upgrading of the national economy.
