TISCO’s Corporate Public Transparency Index Tops Steel Industry

Recently, the 4th Annual Conference on China’s Corporate Sustainable Competitiveness was held in Beijing, which was jointly hosted by Social Responsibility Specialized Committee of the Chinese Institution of Business Administration, Social Responsibility Promoting Center of China Federation of Industrial Economics and Beijing Rongzhi CSR Research Institute. With the theme of “CSR+ promoting innovation and upgrade of enterprises”, the conference released China's Corporate Public Transparency Report (2016-2017) and presented the annual awards on public transparency. Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. ranked the 27th place among China Top 200 Enterprises of 2016 and the  first in iron & steel industry. 
 
Corporate public transparency is measured by activities on information disclosure, information transfer and information reception done by enterprises to the public and how enterprises meet the information demands of the public. Mainly on the basis of all related information publicized through enterprises’ official websites, CSR reports, corporate annual reports, any reports issued publically by enterprises and other publications, media reports, and etc.,  China's Corporate  Public Transparency Report (2016-2017)  made an overall and systematic evaluation on China Top 200 Enterprises with a total of 105 evaluation indicators in three dimensions, i.e. the content of information disclosure, the response to the public demands and the way of information disclosure . According to the Report, the average score of China's corporate transparency is 43.70 points, with most enterprises ranking as "Normal".  47 enterprises are in the ranking of "Good", accounting for 23.5% of all enterprises involved. Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. scores 67.25, and in the ranking of "Good".
 
TISCO also won Best Environmental Information Disclosure Award. Over the years, TISCO took green development as its important social responsibilities, insisted on the environmental guidelines of “governing enterprise according to the law, being people-oriented, meeting standards through internal control, benchmarking against  the first class enterprise, implementing responsibilities and following strictly the rules of rewards and punishment”. Moreover, TISCO kept lifting its environmental protection level through promoting green manufacturing, producing green products, building green industry and guiding green consumption to form a green industrial chain focusing on energy-saving and high efficiency products and technology of circular economy, and to be a benchmarking enterprise for green development in China’s iron and steel industry.
 
The annual meeting aimed to build a high-end communication platform for social responsibility and promote the innovation of the theory and practice for sustainable development. Nearly 150 people participated the meeting, including representatives, experts and scholars from governmental agencies, international organizations, industrial committees, industrial and commercial enterprises and news media.
