April 29 this year, CPC Shanxi Provincial Party Committee Secretary Luo Huining personally awarded "Workers Pioneer" medal to the workers of group 1 of electric arc furnace operation, carbon steel smelting operation area of TISCO No.1 steel-making plant. It is this operation area which the group 1 belongs to, bears the smelting task of wheel and axle steel for railway. In the first half of this year, in the face of increasingly fierce market competition, TISCO railway steel development and production continues to maintain a good momentum, of which the railway wagon steel increased by more than 2 times, wheel and axle steel increased by nearly 60%, makes new contribution for TISCO to expand the market, improve business performance.

 

TISCO is an important production base for railway steel in China. Over the years, TISCO has been relying on the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Stainless Steel and the Platform for Railway Steel Engineering Research Center in Shanxi Province, persists in innovation driving and has always been leading the R&D of related products, independently researches and develops, and has mastered a number of core technologies, and formed energy saving, efficient longevity rail steel strategic product cluster. Compared with traditional steel-made wagons, the wagon made of TISCO first launched railroad wagon T4003 stainless steel in China is lighter in weight, heavier in load, longer in service life and lower in maintenance costs. At present, 36,000 railway wagons made of TISCO special steel are running on heavy-load coal channel of Daqin railway, 12,000 exported to Australia, Kazakhstan and other countries. Passenger cars with stainless steel materials from TISCO R & D and production are also used for manufacturing of more than 6,000 cars in urban light rail and subway Beijing, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Tianjin, Shenyang, Chengdu and other cities, and exported to the United States, Turkey, Brazil, India and other countries.

 

The train axle is the key transmission part of the railway passenger cars and wagons. For a long time, TISCO axle steel plays a leading role with its excellent quality and service in the industry, dominates the market share of 85% and more. In recent years, China's high-speed railway developed rapidly. In the face of the status that China's high-speed rail EMU core components of the wheel axle have to rely on import from raw material to finished products, TISCO took the lead in China to carry out the localization of research and development of the key materials of EMU, and has broken through the ultra-low oxygen high purity smelting and high homogenization, high densification of solidification and thermal processing, and a series of key technologies, to develop in succession international advanced wheel and axle steel for 250 km and 350 km EMU with independent intellectual property rights. The product had passed the cumulative 600,000 km operation assessment, and formally entered the commercial operation stage, made its due contribution for China's high-speed railway completely.

 

The rapid development of railway industry in China, especially high speed railway, brings new development opportunities to TISCO. All the way with the accelerating implementation of national strategy "made in China 2025" and "Road and Belt initiative", TISCO also will continue to climb technology peak, stride towards the world, and burnish the national business cards.
