TISCO leads the world in ultra super-critical stainless steel boiler pipe technology

A new generation of ultra super-critical stainless steel boiler pipes of 650℃ level produced by TISCO recently passed the technical review held by China Standardization Committee on Boilers and Pressure Vessels. At the meantime, T/CISA004-2017, an association standard dominantly constituted by TISCO for new type heat resistant stainless steel (C-HRA-5) seamless pipes for power plant boiler use, got approval as well. The above achievements has made TISCO a pioneer again in China for mass production and engineering application of 650℃ level high grade stainless steel boiler pipe for power station, after the company leading the nation in development of the first generation ultra super-critical stainless steel boiler pipe of 600℃ level years ago. In the field of high grade stainless steel boiler pipe technology, the company has maintained its leading position in China, and ascended the advanced level in the world.
 
TISCO is one of the initiators who starts the research and development of high grade stainless steel boiler pipe in China years ago. It achieved success in 2007 in 566℃ level super-critical stainless steel boiler pipe, which filled the blank of domestic manufacture sector and broke the monopoly of imported products. To meet the demands of fast development of Chinese power industry, TISCO concentrated efforts on material for high temperature and high pressure application, and successively developed material of 600℃, 620℃ and 630℃ levels from the year of 2009 to 2017. Especially the 600℃ level ultra-super-critical stainless steel pipe for power boiler, as the first application of this kind of material, were used by Shanghai Boiler Works and Dongfang Boiler Industry, two leading Chinese manufacturers for power plant machinery.
 
During the research and development of high grade stainless steel boiler pipes, the biggest challenge lies on long-time strength test under high temperature and corrosion-resistance test. Any offset in any link may result into failure. Therefore, precision and rigorousness are required from chemical composition to process technology. To ensure success, TISCO R&D team spent more than 10 years on abundant fundamental research of material properties, simulation application, and process technology. The C-HRA-5 stainless steel boiler pipe produced by TISCO is by now the highest grade products commercially applied by Chinese manufactures. It marks a milestone achieved by TISCO in terms of high grade stainless steel boiler pipes.
 
Insiders revealed that TISCO’s newly developed TG700A/B type Ni-based alloy, i.e. the 3rd generation of 700℃ ultra super-critical material for key parts of power station, is now under test in China’s first set of 700℃ power station industrial test platform set up by Huaneng Group. For years, in the Marathon of high grade stainless steel boiler pipe product, TISCO has transformed its role from a follower to a leader. In the future, the company will play a more active role in boosting the high-end machinery manufacturing and power industry of China.
