In the vast desert of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, a 3.3-kilometer “Pipeline Dragon” prototype is emerging. This is the construction site of the PetroChina Tarim oilfield natural gas reconstruction project located in the Aksu area of southern Xinjiang. The pipelines used in the project tie line all are made of TISCO duplex stainless steel, which is the largest single order for duplex stainless steel pipes in China.
Natural gas is the only low-carbon, clean energy source in fossil energy. It has the advantages of high efficiency, high quality, abundant resources and convenient use. It plays an important role in China's energy transformation. Xinjiang is rich in natural gas, but due to insufficient pipe network construction and insufficient production capacity in southern Xinjiang, there has been a shortage of gas in many local and nearby areas. The natural gas transformation project will be undertaken by CNPC. After completion, it will effectively increase gas production, ease the gas shortage in southern Xinjiang and the inland China, and at the same time help transform local resource advantages into economic advantages and better benefit the people's livelihood.
Previously, local oil and gas pipelines have been using composite materials of ordinary stainless steel and carbon steel. Due to the large amount of impurities contained in the untreated oil and gas that has just been mined, it is extremely corrosive and causes frequent leakage of the pipeline. In the deserted sands, maintenance work consumes huge labor and time costs, seriously affects the safety of the network and the release of capacity. Compared with composite pipe, duplex stainless steel pipe has high strength, strong corrosion resistance, short welding time, long service life, maintenance-free, green and environmental protection, which greatly reduces the overall cost, improves safety and ensures the steady increase of oil and gas production.
In order to make this important project related to people's livelihood built with safer, more economical and environmentally friendly duplex stainless steel materials, TISCO dispatches special groups in marketing, technology, production and processing to build a special team, based on the user's needs, provides real and reliable material comparison analysis reports, and conducts in-depth and meticulous exchanges with the design institutes, owners and industry experts. Finally, a package solution covering stainless steel material selection, specification customization, and subsequent technical guidance for stainless steel tube welding processing was proposed. Faced with the fierce competition of various programs and many enterprises, the design, owners and construction parties were impressed by the remarkable advantages of TISCO materials and the sincere dedication of the TISCO team, and finally decided to adopt the TISCO plan.
