TISCO steels fuel the “flying” of high speed trains

A few days ago, the first batch of new type low-magnetic reinforced bars provided by TISCO for Datong high-speed flying train test project was sent to Yanggao County, Datong City, completing the delivery successfully. It is reported that this batch of products will be used as backbones in the vacuum pipelines for the test project of magnetic levitation high-speed flying train, which will run at the speed of the 1000km/h, providing important material support for the future development of rail transit in China.

The high-speed flying train, or the ultra-high-speed low-vacuum pipeline maglev transportation system, is the fastest on-ground train of the new generation, and is one of the national strategic research and development projects. Compared with the existing trains in China, the most outstanding feature of the high-speed flying train is that it can travel without wheels. It uses nearly-vacuum-pipelines to greatly reduce air resistance, and magnetic levitation technology to suspend the train above the track, eliminating the friction between the traditional train and the track, thus realizing "near-ground flying" at the speed of over 1,000 km/h. The high-speed flying train test project, which represents the new direction of China's future transportation, is a marvelous, symbolic and strategic test project. After successful research and development, it will become another new highlight of China after aerospace, high-speed rail and nuclear power, with worldwide startling effect and huge market prospect.

The high-speed flying train laboratory in Shanxi Province was officially unveiled on May 24th, 2021, in Yanggao County, Datong City. The laboratory is jointly operated by the North University of China and the 3rd Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. A full-scale test line will be built and a number of key technologies will be broken through in early stage of the project. On this basis, the pipelines will be further expanded, and a comprehensive research system, test system, standard system and product system in this field will be gradually built.

The marketing and technical personnel of TISCO have been closely following this project, and have conducted technical exchanges with the scientific research units and visited the project site on the spot, before finally won the contract of low-magnetic threaded steel bars for vacuum pipelines. As the first iron and steel enterprise in China to produce rebar with the whole process of “from cradle to gate”, TISCO has continuously expanded the application field of rebar. After years of research and development, it has successfully developed low-magnetic rebar for national key fields such as aerospace and other major projects. In addition to the conventional performance, the low magnetic reinforced bar also has the extremely important requirement of low magnetic permeability. However, the low-magnetic threaded steel bars are prone to oxidation and corrosion during processing and storage, which makes the magnetic permeability stronger, and the production control extremely difficult.

The production of this special product is much more difficult than that of general products. In the face of various technical problems, TISCO's technical departments and production units worked closely together and set up a technical research and development team. After dozens of early research and development tests and post-production tests, customers' demand was realized step by step. Since from signing the contract, it took just over a month to overcome a number of technical problems and complete the delivery task with good quality and adequate quantity.

What the country needs is where TISCO puts effort on. In the future, TISCO will continue to exert its strength in the research and development of products with cutting-edge technology, precise accuracy and special grades that are demanded by and form restriction to national strategy, making new and greater contributions to the development of transportation and science and technology of China.
