TISCO Mining Company: the first miner in Asia to publish carbon footprint of mineral products

By ZHANG Yongxian UpDate 2022-03-28

The green low carbon technology roadmap plan project of TISCO Mining Company was approved by industrial experts recently. The project creates China’s first on-line life-cycle carbon footprint evaluation platform for ore products, as well as domestic first carbon data management system that is able to calculate miner’s real-time operation data, making the company a pioneer in Aisa to publish both the carbon footprint data of its mineral products and the green low carbon technology roadmap.

In the year of 2021, TISCO Mining Company proactively corresponded to the “dual carbon” strategy of China Baowu and TISCO by kicking off the actions for carbon peak and carbon neutrality. It took 9 months to cooperate with a carbon data technology company based in Shanghai to work out a feasible action plan. The project is based on digital technology and is consist of three sections, i.e. carbon data management and control system, life-cycle carbon footprint calculating system, and green low carbon roadmap. The carbon data management platform is capable of calculate the carbon emission accurately and monitor the carbon emission of multi production bases in a normalized manner. The prospective and creative platform adopts the internationally authenticated fundamental and core algorithm for life cycle evaluation and establishes industrial carbon balance and life cycle calculating model.

In 2022, TISCO Mining Company will, based on the action plan for carbon neutrality, aim at the green low carbon development goal, speed up the automatic collection of carbon data, accelerate the research and application of technologies of Oxygen-rich combustion, green electricity, electrical-driven vehicles and so on, realize sustainable development by the aid of technical innovation, and contribute to the dual carbon target of China Baowu.

The project of green low carbon technology roadmap plan of TISCO Mining Company has been registered as one of “the excellent cases of industrial internet enabled green low carbon development”.
