TISCO has put its high magnetic induction grain-oriented silicon steel project into operation. The first batch of products, 18 coils with 0.27mm thickness, were produced via DCL (decarbonizing and coating line), rotatory furnace, and FCL (Flattening and coating line). The products saw 100% HIB hitting ratio, satisfactory iron loss, average magnetic value of 1.915T, and maximum magnetic value of 1.93T, marking TISCO the third producer of high magnetic induction grain-oriented silicon steel in China.
High magnetic induction grain-oriented silicon steel is the core material for transformer, whose energy consumption and energy efficiency are directly linked to the quality of the material. According to some statistics, the energy loss happened in transformers accounts for 40% of total grid loss, or 6.6% of total power generated nationwide. Challenged by “dual carbon” target, China has issued two standards, i.e. “Limit values and grades of energy efficiency for transformers” and “Transformer energy efficiency lifting plan (2021-2023)”. With the new standards, high efficient and energy saving transformers embrace a huge market, and therefore high magnetic induction grain oriented silicon steel, especially high grade products with small thickness, finds a great development opportunity.
As an important functional soft magnetic material, the high magnetic introduction grain-oriented silicon steel is produced with sophisticated processes, precise composition control, long production procedures and more than 600 strictly required indexes. The quality of this material therefore serves as a reflection of special steel manufacturing level of a state. TISCO, also the cradle of the first hot rolled electric steel sheet of People’s Republic of China, has long history and proud-worthy achievement in silicon steel sector. Currently, the annual capacity of non-grain-oriented silicon steel of TISCO is over 1 million tons. The company’s NGO products have covered complete grades that are widely applied in big-scale generator, railroad, new energy vehicle, unmanned aerial vehicle, white goods, and etc., with its high grade products taking the major market share in China for many years. The high magnetic introduction grain-oriented silicon steel project is an action of the company to expend silicon steel grades and increase the percentage of competitive high-end silicon steel grades.
Many years accumulation in techniques and experience has made TISCO an expert in controlling the performance and surface quality of high magnetic introduction grain-oriented silicon steel. It took only two month for TISCO to verify the production process and achieve mass production after the project construction completion, promising a good start for the operation of the project. Facing the future, TISCO will speed up its pace in developing and producing thinner and higher grade grain-oriented silicon steel, so as to secure the green material for China’s electricity system and support the nation’s “dual carbon” goal.
