Recently, the national standard GB/T 42794-2023 "Determination of Carbon, Sulfur, Silicon, Phosphorus, Nickel, Cobalt, Chromium, and Copper Content in Nickel Iron - Spark Source Atomic Emission Spectrometry" initiated by Taiyuan Iron & Steel Group has been approved and will be officially implemented on March 1, 2024. This standard, for the first time, applies spark source atomic emission spectrometry to the chemical analysis of nickel-iron alloys, filling the standard gap in the domestic and international nickel-iron alloy field for determining chemical compositions using this method. It is expected to have a significant and far-reaching impact on the production and application of nickel-iron and stainless steel.
The implementation of this standard substantially advances the international standardization project led by Taiyuan Iron & Steel Group for spark spectrometric determination of carbon, sulfur, silicon, phosphorus, nickel, chromium, cobalt, and copper content in nickel-iron. Simultaneously, it enriches and improves China's nickel-iron standard system, providing theoretical basis and testing method support for the future revision of national standards related to nickel-iron.
