Two Mines of TISCO Win Honors

Metallurgical Mines' Association of China recently revealed the “Best Top 10 Mines” in its 5^th Metallurgical Mines Selection. Jianshan Iron Mine and Dongshan Mine of TISCO stood out from 25 finalists and got the honor.

Aiming at setting up international first class green mines, TISCO has dedicated itself to strengthen its capability for sustainable development. It laid stress on creative mechanism, focused on technology innovation and management innovation, and increased investment in R&D of deep-processing. Through its efforts year after year, TISCO mines have made significant progress and remarkable improvement in business operation, environment protection, enterprise culture and level of management.

The highlights of Jianshan Iron Mine include an elaborate cost control system and a comprehensively implemented practice of “daily consumption, daily accounting and weekly analysis”, which results into higher productivity; a well established quality control system, a normative quality management and responsibility mechanism, the advanced six sigma concept and strengthened process control, which jointly elevate product quality; as well as a motivating scheme to push forward technology progress and environment protection. In terms of environment protection, it has been honored as one of the enterprises in Taiyuan with clean production, and granted by Shanxi Provincial Environment Protection Bureau the environment assessment certification and blue environment sign.

In Dongshan Mine, intensified environment governance in mining stope and waste disposal site are implemented. They make scientific mining and disposal plan to control exploitation area and decrease the total land area for mining. They utilize the resources in a more efficient way, they reuse the surface soil at mountain top for reclamation, reuse the roof clay to produce refractory material, recycle the second grade ore and laminated stone to produce material for architecture. They plant trees from time to time as an obligation, effectively increase the afforest area. A series of unique ascending terraces are formed as they plant trees on freshly dumped waste. With the drive of these innovations both in management and technology, the mine leads the industry in terms of technology and economy indexes.

Besides, the two mines made significant achievements in safe production, enterprise cultural, team building and other fields, which have become essential support for their sustainable development.

The “Best Top Ten Mines” selection among nationwide metallurgical mines is held every three years. Technology and economy indexes, financial figures, management level and comprehensive capability are evaluated and scored by experts of selection committee. The finalists are announced in website of Metallurgical Mines' Association of China.
