TISCO’s Diversified Development Action in Water Industry

TISCO has put a lot of effort in recent years in water industry, which is considered as an important content of its diversified development strategy, to explore wide markets and new business modes. It has focused on the lifting of its technology output capability in water industry, as well as upgrade of its business scope.

 

As an enterprise who insists on green development and transformational development, TISCO has led the industry in China in membrane method water treatment technology, by which the company has made a great step in improving its capability of waste water treatment and recycling. New technologies and innovative management modes also help the company cut the consumption of fresh water in steel making process. Based on its experience in production and operation in water business, the company fulfilled its ambition in 2014 by investing RMB 200 million Yuan to establish a JV with Beijing Origin Water. The JV, namely TISCO Origin Water Company, dedicates itself on the R&D, manufacturing and sale of water treatment membrane technologies, as well as the design, construction and operation of water treatment projects. It has turned the water business into a green bank.

Waste water treatment is deemed as one of the key parts of national emission cutting program by Chinese government. Under such circumstance, TISCO Origin Water Company actively participates into the construction of city waste water treatment projects. The project of Taiyuan City Jinyang Waste Water Treatment Plant is a good example. The project takes up an area of 410 mu (or 273, 333 m²) and is designed to a total treatment capacity of 480,000 tons per day. At present, the main part of the first phase project, i.e. a treatment capacity of 320,000 tons per day, has been completed and put into installation and commissioning. Amid all the facilities, the membrane bioreactor was feed with water on Dec. 23, 2015 for commissioning, and was put into trial 4 days later. During the construction of this project, TISCO Origin Water made feasible and efficient plan, adopted well prepared methods, overcame the obstacles of tight schedule, and ensured that the project were completed on time and with satisfied quality.

Water in Yangquan City is featured with excessive hardness and sulfate content, causing considerable trouble to the living and production activities of local people. To solve the problem, the municipal government decided to invest RMB 156 million Yuan to improve the situation. TISCO Origin Water won the bidding of the project after detailed technical exchanges and strict public bidding inviting process. Since the kicking off of the project in March of 2015, the project made a steady progress after overcoming the difficulties like low temperature, frozen soil and complicated earth structure. Besides, advanced explosion technology was adopted to ensure the smooth progress. Till now, the building of the factory has been finished by 80%. It will turn out to be the first water plant in China who uses the ultra-low pressure selective nano-filtration membrane technology independently developed by TISCO Origin Water. Strong technical capability, advanced production technology and scientific management system have paved a brighter way for the company in EPC (Engineering, Procuring and Constructing) business. In last October, the company won the bidding of another drinking water improvement project which will be beneficial to 200,000 residents who live in and around West Mining Area of Pingding County.

 

A public–private partnership (PPP) is a government service or private business venture that is funded and operated through a partnership of government and one or more private sector companies. It is an important content of the reform in public service sector of the country. TISCO Origin Water Company took active actions in the PPP mode and won the bidding of PPP project of No. 2 Waste Water Treatment Plant in Gujiao City. The project has now finished its pre-preparation phase by setting up a “Gujiao City Gangyuan Water Co., Ltd.” with a registered capital of RMB 75 million Yuan. TISCO Origin Water holds the 70% share of the new company and is responsible for the implementation and operation of the project, which is designed to have a treatment capacity of 20,000 m³ per day and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The new company will recycle all the domestic sewage of Gujiao City and make remarkable contribution to the improvement of environment around Fenhe River.
