TISCO Gains Win in Hot Rolled Plate (Coil) Tiff with Malaysia

Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry announced recently that, the investigation of safeguard measures against hot rolled plate (coil) products made by Chinese steel producers was terminated as the alleged damage was not proven. The victory has big significance to Chinese steel producers, who are encouraged to actively respond to international trade disputes and maintain the fair competition in steel exports.

 

TISCO is one of the major Chinese producers who export hot rolled plate (coil) to Malaysia. The investigation of safeguard measures was launched by Malaysia in last September. Actually before this investigation, Malaysia once launched an anti-dumping investigation against the same products made in China and imposed 2.49%~12.19% anti-dumping duties on Chinese producers and exporters as per the ruling in last February.

 

China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) closely watched on the investigation and duly organized involved enterprises to respond to the investigation. Under the instructions and leadership of the Ministry of Commerce and CISA, TISCO and its fellow actively collected related information, data and evidence that played an important role in this case. Meanwhile, TISCO hired an experienced lawyer to attend the hearings and defend for the company. After several round of counterarguments, the investigation authority of Malaysia concluded and announced that the claimed damage was not proven and the investigation was terminated.
