TISCO scored fruitful achievement in technological innovation in 2015

Despite unprecedented challenges faced by the industry and extreme weighty scientific research task, TISCO scientific and technological staff had made significant headway in 2015 with their brave heart and spirit. 16 of their research programs were appraised as Province-level Science and Technology Achievements, and 11 won Science and Technology Awards of Province-level or above, including 4 Metallurgical Science and Technology Awards and 7 Shanxi Province Science and Technology Progress Awards.

The project of “High Quality Wide Bright Stainless Steel Plate: Independent Integration of Production Line and Development of Key Technology” was rewarded the first class prize of Shanxi Science and Technology Progress Award. This project makes a breakthrough in the manufacture technology and product development of wide stainless steel BA plate, which is badly needed by building decoration market and white goods industry. At present, TISCO has become the worldwide biggest producer of wide stainless steel BA plate. The same award was also given to the “Development of Beneficiation Technology of Mixed Fine Hematite and Magnetite Iron Ore and Integration of 22 million tons Beneficiation Equipment”

Three programs were rewarded second class prize of Shanxi Province Science and Technology Progress Awards. “Development and Application of MSBR-UF/RO Process in Municipal Sewage Recovery”, as one of the three, made great contribution to the curb of waste water pollution and at the same time gained a new source of industrial water for the company. As all known, city waste water has high organic material content and the water amount is fluctuated, meanwhile, TISCO sets high standard to desalted water used in its production line. The research team took 3 years to collect, analyze and study data, to design process, to construct the pump station, pipeline, bio-treatment system and in-depth treatment system, before putting the project into production. The project recovers and treats 18 million tons of municipal sewage every year, i.e. 25% of total waste water discharged by the whole city; it produces 11.2 million tons of desalted industrial water, i.e. 30% of total fresh water needed by the company. It has assisted the company to achieve international leading level in fresh water consumption per ton steel.
