TISCO converter operator Lv Tao wins “Chinese Skills Award”
The 13th Skilled Talents Award Ceremony was held in Beijing, 30 skilled talents from aeronautics, astronautics, shipbuilding, high-speed railway and auto equipment manufacturing sectors won the “Chinese Skills Award”. Among them, Lv Tao, the shift leader of smelting converter 2 of No.2 Steel-Making Plant TISCO, is listed in.
Considered as the highest honor for the skilled workers in China, the “Chinese Skills Award” was established in 1995. 30 talents are selected out of tens of millions of skilled workers in China every two years. As rare as the academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, the winner is called as “worker academician” or “craftsman in great country”. Since the establishment of this award, only 230 workers in China have won this honor. All the winners are the outstanding representatives of Chinese manufacturing workers. With a special skill, every one of them has made the remarkable performance on his own post.
Lv Tao is one of the outstanding representatives of TISCO craftsmen. Working with the production line for a long time, he grew up into a senior steel making talent from a common worker with unremitting efforts and exquisite craftsmanship. After more than 20 years of working experience on the converter, he has learned unique techniques to judge the steel temperature by naked eyes and to determine the carbon content of the steel pool by the specimen. Besides, he summed up a whole set steel making practice which is “quick, stable and correct”. With his exquisite craftsmanship and technical innovation, he fixed dozens of key technical problems such as high cost of the charging material of the converter, low yield of high grade steel and low purity of high-carbon steel. He also actively trained his apprentices and cultivated a group of skilled young workers who also have made good performances in steel making operation. He made an outstanding contribution to the development of steel making technology in China.
Speaking of the feeling of winning this award, he said: “This honor doesn’t belong to one person, but also belong to all the workers on their posts. I owe it to my company that cultivates me and my colleagues who support me. I will keep insisting on the craftsmanship of dedication, excellence and perfection in order to overcome any difficulty, to secure the quality of every heat of steel and to make new contribution to the realization of TISCO dream.”
The candidates of this Skilled Talents Award are from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and 10 national industrial associations including Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Political Work Department of Central Military Commission, the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.
