STSS honored as an “Advanced Company in Technology in Chinese Steel Sector”

The China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) and the Chinese Society for Metals (CSM) jointly held a Steel Industry Technological Innovation Meeting 2017 in Beijing. Companies and individuals that acquire outstanding technology achievements in steel sector during the “twelfth-five” period were granted awards in the meeting. TISCO received the title of “Advanced Company in Technology in Chinese Steel Sector”, and four persons of the company were given the titles of “Excellent Technology Worker in Chinese Steel Industry” or “Excellent Technology Administer in Chinese Steel Industry”.

Themed with “technology drives transformation, innovation leads development”, the meeting summarized the technology progress and fruits achieved in steel sector since the 18th National Congress of Communist Party of China; analyzed the situation and mission encountered by the steel industry in the new era; schemed the subsequent technology innovation activities that will improve the supply quality and supply level; and set new targets for the development of China’s steel industry.

TISCO has always been persisting on the strategy of innovation-driving-development, and calling for the innovation philosophy of “be willing to innovate, be motivated by innovation, and succeed through innovation” as well as the innovation culture of “encourage innovation, allow failure and oppose conservatism”. By allying with universities and institutes at home and abroad, and through effective technical exchanges with industry peers domestic and overseas, the company has made remarkable breakthrough in production processes and technologies of a passel of special steel grades, especially in stainless steel grades. Backed by its state-level technology center, the state key lab for stainless steel material, and the Shanxi Provincial Research Center for Steel for Railway Vehicles, the company has carried out many research programs of state- and province-level, through which the company accumulates expertise, strengthens its capability in product design and process test, and secures the sustainable growth of its high-end, precision, cutting-edge and special products. The company sets up innovation teams such as SBU (Strategic Business Unit), Doyen Engineers, Product Engineers, that integrate production, study, research and application. Through these teams, the company’s communication with customers starts with product design, enabling it to recommend to customers new material with better performance and lower cost, supply attentive service to clients, and promote the transformational upgrade of steel industry.

Statistics shows that since the “twelfth-five” period, more than 60 innovation achievements of TISCO have been granted national awards, high grade awards in metallurgy field, or technology prize of province-level. Many high-end products dedicatedly developed by the company have been widely applied to major projects in industries like railway, automobile, shipbuilding, bridge, and aerospace, replacing imported material and essentially supporting the high-end manufacturing sector of the country. In the future, the company will earnestly follow the strategy of 19th National Congress of the CPC, strictly implement the new development concept, unswervingly sticking to the path of innovation-driving-development, and spare no effort on adding new varieties, lifting quality and boosting brand value, so as to make contribution to the Chinese steel industry.
