TISCO’s second phase carbon fiber project put into production

“New material industry is a strategic industry, a fundamental industry, as well as a key industry focusing on technology competition. We should do all we can to catch up with internationally advanced level.” President Xi Jinping said on June 22, 2017, when he paid a visit to the production base of the high-end carbon fiber in TISCO. At that time, the first phase of the company’s carbon fiber project had been put into production and the second phase was under construction. 6 months later, the blue print turns to reality with the second phase project coming into production on December 28, 2017.

We can report the success to Xi now as all equipments runs in an orderly way and all performances reaches designed value.”Chang Chunbao, the secretary of CPC committee and general manager of Gangke Company, TISCO’s subsidiary that carrys out the project.

 

Carbon fiber, known as “black gold” in industry, is a new fiber material with carbon content above 90% and featured with high tensile strength, low weight, high chemical resistance, and low thermal expansion. These properties have made carbon fiber very popular in civil engineering and military. Due to its role as a foundation for high-end manufacturing, the material is selected as a key technological program among “the thirteenth five” national strategic new industry plans. However the exclusive control and block of related knowhow by a few countries had used to put China into a corner for a long time.

 

In 2013, together with Institute of Coal Chemistry of CAS, TISCO strived to set up a internationally advanced T800H PANCF line of hundreds of tons capacity after making breakthrough in a series of key technology. In 2014, the first batch of T800H carbon fiber produced by the company passed the audit by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, making the company an officially approved unit to develop and produce T800H carbon fiber for the country’s aerospace course.

 

In 2017, TISCO accelerated its pace and launched the second phase high-end CF project of thousands tons capacity. Inspired by the visit by China’s General Secretary Xi, the project executors completed the project with extreme diligence and carefulness, scientific method, deliberating plans, optimized solutions and strict quality control to ensure the schedule. Meanwhile, operators of the new line grasped every minute to learn new process and new technology, to make themselves well prepared for the line as soon as it was constructed. Launched in April, civil wok completed in August, main equipment installed in November, trial and put into production in December, the second phase project was done perfectly matching with the targets of safety, quality and time.

 

What’s more, key equipments in the second phase project are totally made-in-China. The new line facilitates the enrichment of product variety, lift of product quality, and development of product application, making the industry more reliable for market demands.
